NecroBloom Collection 4 inch - Ember Warden
Some things stand guard even in death. Ember Warden is one of them — a matte black skull, sculpted deep and hollow, standing sentinel over a blaze of color it has no business containing. From its cracked crown erupts a Coleus scutellarioides, leaves torched in shades of gold, crimson, and moss-green, like embers caught mid-flicker and frozen there.
The coleus doesn't do subtle, and it isn't trying to. Every leaf is its own small riot — variegated patterns that shift and deepen as the plant matures, no two ever landing quite the same way twice. It thrives on bright, indirect light; a touch of gentle morning sun will only deepen the color, while too much harsh afternoon light can scorch those delicate patterns. Keep the soil consistently moist but never waterlogged — coleus wilts fast when thirsty and sulks just as fast when drowning, so consistency is the name of the game. It enjoys average to high humidity and rewards attentive care with fuller, denser growth. Pinch back the growing tips regularly to keep it bushy rather than leggy, and don't be afraid to prune hard — this plant grows back with a vengeance. Propagation couldn't be easier: snip a few inches of stem, strip the lower leaves, and root it in water in a matter of days, ready to spark a second fire wherever it lands.
The skull itself is finished in a deep matte black, sculpted with just enough weathering and texture to look like it's been standing watch far longer than it has. A drainage hole keeps the roots from drowning beneath all that blaze.
Equal parts guardian and flame, Ember Warden proves the darkest things can still burn the brightest.
