For a thousand years it slept beneath the sand, bound in linen and silence, waiting for something to disturb the stillness. No treasure woke it. No curse. Just a single stubborn root, pushing through the wrappings toward the light. Now it stands eternal watch — half tomb, half cradle — as a variegated rubber plant (Ficus elastica) unfurls from its bandaged crown, thick green leaves splashed with cream like ancient hieroglyphs catching the sun. They say once the vine takes hold, it never lets go.
Plant care: Rubber plants love bright, indirect light — too little and the variegation fades. Water when the top 1-2 inches of soil are dry, and wipe the leaves occasionally to keep them glossy and dust-free. They tolerate average humidity but appreciate a little extra. Propagate easily from stem cuttings.
